Only just in time

Hi Storyline,

My third birth was affected by the lack of labor and delivery in Sandpoint. I planned a birth center birth from the start, by my husband and I wanted to me near a hospital in case we needed it. This helped us feel calm and confident—necessary for an unmedicated birth. We ultimately found a midwife who would see us for appointments in Sandpoint, but has her own birth center in CDA, just blocks from Kootenai Hospital.

I was able to deliver my baby at her CDA birth center, but only just in time; she came out only 15 minutes after we arrived after a 2-hour car ride!

All’s well that ends well, but it was a tough decision not to use our Sandpoint birth center that we were already very familiar with, and that long car ride while in labor is something I don’t want to repeat!
