Idaho Stories of Abortion Care Denied

When Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022 and Idaho's total ban on abortion went into effect, our state suddenly became a dangerous place to be pregnant. About 8 percent of pregnancies result in dire complications—for mother and baby alike—and sometimes the necessary treatment involves an abortion to prevent further suffering or worsening of a condition.

Here, three Idaho women share their stories of pregnancy, fatal fetal diagnoses, and the compassionate abortion care that was denied them in their home state. In instances like these, abortion bans don't act to preserve life but perpetuate pain instead.

This is the story of what happens when the right to abortion is overturned.
