About Gina Cole
My Work:
I work predominantly in oil. As a figurative artist, I strive to bring in the human experience, the authenticity, the very thing that human viewers can truly understand because they share the exact same human experience. But for the most part I believe the response of the people should be left to the people and not the artist.
Bio
Gina, originally from Bangkok, relocated to the United States in 2001, settling in San Jose, California, where she pursued a degree in Computer Science at a local college. She later transferred to Boise State University, gaining acceptance into the Radiologic Science program, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. Gina's passion for art emerged unexpectedly after she was inspired by the beautiful creations of a friend; she had never envisioned herself as an artist nor recognized her own potential for drawing or painting. Upon picking up a paintbrush, she experienced a newfound sense of freedom, alleviating feelings of isolation and disconnection. Through her artistic expression, she found a means to communicate her life challenges and address her inner conflicts.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Gina serves as an MRI technologist at the Boise VA Medical Center. Aware of the transformative power of art in her own life, she initiated an art class program at the Boise VA, volunteering her time to teach art to veterans and mental health patients. She advocates for art as a therapeutic tool that promotes healing and mental wellness. Currently, Gina continues to create art and conduct classes, actively participating in the Treasure Valley Artists’ Alliance. She gain recognition through participation in exhibitions, media interviews, publications and her artworks have graced the cover of Boise Weekly since 2018.
